Bring your fire helmet and hose to Sturbridge Village's old fashioned firefighting display!
Sturbridge Village is offering a day filled with fire trucks and ice cream! On the 20th of the July, explore an old fashioned fire truck display and help others pump water from an old fashioned water pump! The entire day will be dedicated to 19th century living, from watching a vintage fire truck parade to making 19th century ice cream!
Children can make ice cream by mimicking how it was made in the 18th and 19th centuries by using period tools, techniques, recipes, and ingredients. Popular flavors in the 18th century included gooseberry, ginger, and even asparagus ice cream! Also, don't forget to bring your home made chili for the 4th annual chili contest!
Enjoy a perfect summer day on July 20, 2013 from 9:30am-8:00pm. Admission is $24 for adults, $22 for seniors, $8 for youths ages 3-17, and free admission for children 2 and under. Sturbridge Village is located at 1 Old Sturbridge Village Road in Sturbridge.
*** Old Sturbridge Village's purpose is to provide modern Americans with a deepened understanding of their own times through a personal encounter with New England's past.
