Rock-and-roll Pioneer Dies

The Buzz: Rock-and-roll Pioneer Dies

It’s a sad day for the rock-and-roll world. One of the genre's pioneers has died. Legendary producer Sam Phillips died yesterday of respiratory problems. He's worked with artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley and in 1950 he recorded "Rocket 88" with Ike Turners Band. It's a song that's widely considered the first rock-and-roll song, making Phillips the proud father of rock-and-roll history.
