'World Trade Center' premiers in New York
NEW YORK -- The movie about the attacks on the Twin Towers premieres in New York on Thursday evening.
The ceremony was a low-key event in Manhattan for Oliver Stone's new film, "World Trade Center".
The survivors of the 9/11 attacks joined the stars of the film at the Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown Manhattan.
Also in attendance were former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and New York Governor George Pataki.
The movie tells the true story of the survival and rescue of two police officers, who were trapped in the rubble of the World Trade Center.
This is the second major motion picture made about the Sept. 11 attacks.
But despite the controversy over the subject, actor Nicholas Cage says the experience is positive.
"I had not doubt that this would be a positive movie of encouragement that could help others," Cage said. "So, I was thoroughly excited to have this opportunity."
"World Trade Center" opens nationwide on August 9.
The film is rated PG-13.
