The Dish: The Hen House -- Fried Chicken and Waffles
The Dish: Fried Chicken and Waffles
The Restaurant: The Hen House
Waffle:
Pick out your favorite waffle flour at the grocery store and add required amounts of water, eggs and oil.
Remember, the more egg you add the fluffier your waffles will be. Pour batter into your waffle iron and bake.
Chicken:
Season chicken breasts drums and thighs with season salt, garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper.
You can let the chicken sit over night or go right into the oven with it.
Roast at 350 for about 20 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165 degrees.
Take the chicken out and let cool.
Once cool, roll your chicken pieces in flour and then dip in buttermilk.
Remove from the butter milk and roll the chicken pieces in a 2 to 1 ratio of corn flour and Panko bread crumbs.
From there it's straight to the fryer.
Deep fry or pan fry in vegetable oil at 350 degrees for 4 minutes or until golden brown. Put the chicken right on top of the waffles and serve with syrup and butter.
