Hank Investigates: What to do if your roof collapses

• Call your insurance company or agent ASAP
• Take pictures of the damages to the house inside and out
• Take pictures of any contents that are damaged--you may be covered for that too
• Be careful, don't put yourself in harm's way

Now if your roof is holding up just fine for now - there are things you can do to prepare for any possible problems in the future:

• Dig out your insurance policy and check your coverage
• Make sure you have the phone numbers to report problems
• Inventory your household items in photos or videos
• Keep your policy and those photos in a safe place

If you have to do some emergency repairs--getting a tarp or shoveling out--make sure you keep all the receipts--your insurance may cover that too.
