7 Healthcast: More than 65K attend Health & Fitness Expo
Organizers estimate more than 65,000 attended the Expo Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend was filled with medical screenings, healthy food and fun.
Traditional Irish dancers showed off a great way to stay active and fit.
“I love how strong it builds you to get. It’s just so hard, so I like to push through the hard things,” said Amelia McCaffrey, an Irish step dancer.
The crowd was able to show off their own footwork with a country line dancing demonstration.
Thousands participated in specialized health screenings, with tests for things like blood pressure, cholesterol, as well as eye screenings and tests for asthma.
“Coming here, I found a lot of things,” said Dolly Polonski. “They took my blood pressure, my cholesterol was fine, so this is a good thing for someone that doesn’t ordinarily go to the doctor.”
There was also face-painting, a chance to play with puppies destined to become service dogs and the opportunity to take a swing at virtual golf.
One of the most popular events was “The Dish.”
Some of Boston's best chefs whipped up recipes that are good for you and taste great too.
Lots of folks got a chance to be in front of the camera doing the weather and sports.
