Researchers in California say they're one step closer to seeing a cure for blindness.

Working with blind mice, scientists injected a chemical they developed called AAQ.

The chemical worked to make the cells in the retinas sensitive to light, restoring some sight.

Researchers say more testing is needed.

They hope this development could help people with age-related macular degeneration.
