The virus is very contagious. You can get the virus by coming in direct contact with someone who is infected or by touching a contaminated surface like a counter top.
There is no specific treatment for the virus. You treat the symptoms as necessary.
Mass General says they took steps immediately.
"When we were aware there were more than one or two cases of GI illness, we made sure staff stayed out of work for at least 3 days after they got better," said infectious disease expert Dr. David Hooper. "We did additional cleaning, reinforced hand hygiene."
