A new diet is promising to shock the weight off.

Instead of exercise and pills, the diet uses a surgical implant.

The device is put under the skin and emits a small electronic pulse to the nerve endings that cause hunger pains.

Researchers say the impulses are a painless way to help people feel full.

Human testing of the device is scheduled for later this year.
