Missing Cable Boxes
Help Me Hank: Missing Cable Boxes
You're taping, wrapping and stuffing boxes -- packing to move can be so chaotic... When you're done, half the time you don't remember what's packed where!
For Carol Nason helping her elderly mom move to Salem it was the cable boxes. Absolutely disappeared…
"We couldn't imagine what had had happened to them."
Carol’s mom got a big time bill for the missing cable boxes and she paid it, but with a promise from the cable company. She was told she would be reimbursed the money if she found the boxes.
Then one day out of nowhere...
"Eureka, here are the cable boxes."
Carol headed straight to the cable company to cash in their promise.
"They said 6-8 weeks she'll get a reimbursement."
Now in the TV world, she should have gotten her money before the 2002 broadcast of "It’s a Wonderful Life", but no refund. In 2003, Rachel went back to work --No refund.
"Every time I spoke to them they didn’t have any idea what I was talking about."
In February, President Bartlett went back to the White House by March, Abby's mother was back in the ER. But money back? No way… Carol's mom had a plan.
"She had been saying to me for about two months, ‘you should call Hank. Hank will help you.’"
So we called the cable company to find out where the signals got crossed. They explained when the cable system changed ownership, the cable box refund paperwork somehow got buried in their computer and within days the long awaited refund check arrived.
"She was delighted she was absolutely tickled pink."
Now Carol’s mom is packing up again to move in with her family and this time they'll keep an eye on her cable boxes.
"For someone, who is retired, it can be a lot of money."
Do check the fine print in your cable contract. Those cable boxes are basically on loan and if you lose or abuse them, you may be responsible. If you're fighting a consumer battle maybe I can help!
