Help Me Hank! Calendar controversy

Help Me Hank: Help Me Hank! Calendar controversy

What could be cuter than this? How about this? Or this?

That's why everyone wants to visit these cuddly puppies at the Sterling Animal Shelter and even select one to take home.

The problem is that sometimes families can spend a lot of time picking out the perfect pet.

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"We actually don't have public restrooms for our clients who come in."

So the shelter decided to rent some portable facilities. They did company research and made a call to set-up a deal.

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"What the company explained to us was that we were being billed monthly."

But it seemed to director Leigh Grady she was paying more than once a month, so she checked their bills.

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"We were paying for 13 months out of the year."

Thirteen months in a year? Everyone knows that's not correct.

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"There's only 12 months in the year."

Right. So Leigh called for a little calendar conversation.

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"They told us oh, we bill every 28 days."

Hold the phone, that's not the monthly bill they agreed to and that would be 13 bills a year!

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"We felt like we were unjustly charged for several extra months and that's why we called Channel 7."

We examined the shelter’s invoices. They specifically said "monthly."

When we called the company, they explained that by monthly billing they meant every four weeks.

As we explained to them, the deal was for monthly and that's not every four weeks. And they agreed. They've now adjusted the charges and even changed the wording on their bills.

And now back to the world of adorable pups. Leigh can go back to taking care of her most important business, finding these guys a new place to live.

Leigh Grady, Sterling Shelter Director
"We have lots of wonderful animals that are just in transitional periods in their lives and waiting for the appropriate home."
