Help Me Hank! Calling card
Help Me Hank: Help Me Hank! Calling card
When Dennis from Westfield met Sue from Leominster, it was long distance love. To keep their romantic connection, Sue went to BJís and purchased a special present.
"She bought me a calling card so I could call her everyday."
Dennis did so much dialing he literally wore out the card. It broke in half so he tossed it and kept the access numbers on a slip of paper in his wallet.
"I used it so much I didn't even need to look at the card."
Every time his minutes ran out, Dennis would just call the re-charge number for a refill. It worked for two-years, until one day Dennis dialed and heard something funny.
"Like if you misdial a number it goes beeboo beeboo."
He knew he hadn't misdialed. He also knew he still had several thousand minutes left! So Dennis went to his local BJís for a phone card tune up.
The problem was since the actual card was gone, they couldnít figure out who his phone service provider was or how to contact them.
"And she said, 'well I don't know what to do.'"
So Dennis called someone he didn't need a calling card to reach.
"I figured I had seen Help Me Hank on TV!"
We knew someone owed Dennis money or minutes. The question was who?
When BJís headquarters checked, they found Dennis wasn't the only one. Because of a change in phone service providers some cards wound up with disconnected phone numbers and others were just useless.
The store told us:
"We apologize for any inconvenience... Although BJís no longer works with this calling card vendor, we took action to address the situationÖ"
That put inactive numbers back in service and since Dennis' card was dead, BJís sent him three new ones with plenty of talk time.
"They work wonderful."
But thatís not the only happy ending. The long distance romance is now just a local call.
"I live with my girlfriend now in Leominster."
If you have an old BJ's calling card that suddenly went dead, BJ's wants to know. You can contact them at the number listed below.
