Help Me Hank: Help Me Hank! Hotel glitch
It's more like the center ring than a living room in here when 8-year-old Josh pulls out his wrestling action figures. He can demonstrate the pile driver, the chokehold and all the rest. And he can keep pretending for hours.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"It's an obsession with my youngest son. He loves it."
So imagine how much Josh would like to see live wrestling. That's why when Mom heard real-life wrestling was coming to Massachusetts, she instantly bought tickets for her wrestle maniac son.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"He was ecstatic! He was so happy!"
Susan knew it would entail an overnight trip to Springfield, so she hopped on a travel Web site and booked a hotel room.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"We just eagerly waited for the day to come."
And when it did, the family piled into the car. Their first stop was the hotel.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"We get to the hotel, and there's a white piece of paper taped to the door that says hotel closed."
Closed? Susan had the hotel confirmation, but the place was locked up tight.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"I really felt that we were stranded."
With only 20 minutes until show time, Susan was panicked. She wound up paying twice as much to get another hotel room nearby.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"The steam was just coming out of my ears. I was so angry."
But the match was a blast. They got home videos to prove it, and Josh even got a picture with a favorite guy. But then Susan had to handle the online hotel mess. She'd paid for a room that didn't exist and then again for a backup!
Susan Festa, travel site user
"I was looking to be reimbursed for the second hotel payment."
But smack down, the Web site only agreed to refund her for the closed hotel. Susan was stuck with a heavyweight bill.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"I don't feel I should have been responsible."
So Susan picked up the phone for her take down.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"A work mate said you should call 'Help Me Hank!'"
Of course, Susan had relied on the Web site to provide a hotel room. A room that exists in a hotel that's open. We told the company for Susan to pay extra for their mistake was, well, a sucker punch.
Finally, the Web site admitted they'd blown it and agreed to reimburse Susan for the emergency hotel, which was $200! And as a result, Josh's collection of movable musclemen may soon have some new contenders.
Susan Festa, travel site user
"I'll probably get Joshua some more wrestlers."
