The Hiller Instinct: Kerry in NH
With the New Hampshire primary 41 days away, John Kerry's theme of the day was port security and, predictably, he provided a photo op in Portsmouth Harbor, a plan to improve port safety and a blast at President Bush.
But the clock is ticking on Kerry, too. Of course he's no longer the front runner here, but now he's not even sure he can come in second.
In Concord, General Wesley Clark, just back from the trial of one brutal dictator, Yougoslavia's Slobodan Milosevic, talked about the trial of another -- Saddam Hussein…
As Kerry tries to stay afloat in New Hampshire, Clark may be catching a wave... strong enough to make him number two in the primary…
Kerry has always argued he doesn't have to win New Hampshire to win the White House, but it was always assumed he'd come in second if not first. No more! Kerry could finish third and if all he gets in New Hampshire is a bronze medal, he can throw it away because it will be worthless to him.
