The Hiller Instinct: Obama Speech

Change and hope. That's what the president promised...and that's what he's delivering.

Sometimes change is so quick you can miss it...so don't miss this: in just five weeks, Barack Obama has changed the way Washington works. Since he took office, the speed of the Federal Government has gone from lumbering to lightning.

Washington is moving so fast, it's hard to keep-up.Every day--it seems--there's a new bill, or bail-out, that costs millions...or is it billions?And it never seems to be enough....for the banks, or the car companies, or to satisfy the stock market.

And--somehow--now we're supposed to believe that borrowing and spending trillions more will improve the economy so much that we can expand healthcare and education, save industries and struggling homeowners, and cut the budget deficit in half in four years.

Can all that really happen? This is where hope comes in.

"We will rebuild, we will recover, and the united states of America will emerge stronger than before," President Obama said.

The only thing all the experts agree on is that we must do something. So we are... even if we're uncertain as we do it. We hope it will work because we need it to. And the only other option is hopelessness, which, to me, is un-American.
