The Hiller Instinct: Primary Preview

For example, the number of Republicans running in Massachusetts for Congress--two dozen--is evidence the deep blue of Massachusetts may be fading.

The 10th district race will be a November battleground--watched nationally--to see whether Scott Brown was one-of-a-kind, or just the first one.

And the state-wide primaries for auditor and treasurer should set up more races for the fall, which will give Republicans a chance to become relevant again on Beacon Hill.

So what's really at stake in Massachusetts today is the political identity of the state.

In New Hampshire, the dynamic is different. There, Republicans are fighting to hold on to a senate seat...and now, Kelly Ayotte is fighting to hold on to a dwindling lead.

To me, that race shows how Republicans everywhere may be united against the Democrats, but are divided among themselves.

And that's where the Tea Party comes in! Tomorrow we'll know exactly how strong the Tea Party is...but, today, we can already taste it.

Tonight, as you watch the returns tonight think of the Primaries as a preview, with the November election the coming attraction.

I’m Andy Hiller, that’s my instinct
