The Hiller Instinct: Transportation Security Administration
It's been a long time since flying has been fun. The Transportation Security Agency has made airports seem like prisons, with long lines and little freedom of movement.
Now the TSA seems to be giving us two more bad choices: nude or crude.
You can either show the TSA everything you've got on a body scan, or you can choose a physical pat down, which some passengers have compared to being groped.
As for privacy...well, sorry! The TSA says it's trying to be sensitive, but everyone has to be properly screened.
The problem is privacy and security don't mix. The more you have of one, the less you have of the other.
And it's not likely the need for security will decrease anytime soon.
VIEWER VOICES: Are the new TSA rules fair to airline passengers?
So my guess is airports will become even less friendly, and many of us will have one more reason to dislike government.
Because we're not convinced these searches are necessary, or that they're making us any safer.
I'm Andy Hiller, and that's my instinct.
