But there is one in Boston that's open....and--if you qualify--then I suggest you get out there and run for it, because it's a great job with terrific benefits.

All you have to do to qualify is be at least 18 years old; and have lived in Roxbury, the Fenway or the South End for a year. You'll also have to collect signatures from 191 voters who think you should get a shot at the job. And that's it! You can even have a criminal record.

Where is this job? At a Boston landmark where everyone knows its name--City Hall.

The job you'll be going for is Boston City Councilor from the 7th District. It was Chuck Turner's, before he was booted from the Council for taking a bribe.

Win the special election and your salary will be $87,500. You'll also get an office, and $187,500 a year for your office staff. You can hire any number of staffers you want--there are no rules. So if you hire just one, you can give the whole $187,500 to virtually anyone who's not in your immediate family. That's the law.

You'll also get health insurance, life insurance, and get into the city's pension plan.

But, wait, there's more!

Vacation and sick days? Take what you need, whenever you want. There are no rules.

And how about two private parking spots beneath city hall? With an "Official Business" placard on your dashboard, you're on your way to free parking anywhere in Boston.

Not bad! And don't worry about having too much responsibility. Once you're on the council, no one will be sure what you do. So you'll be one of the few politicians anywhere who won't be blamed for anything.
