Hiller Instinct: On the ropes

Last night, voters in Indiana and North Carolina voiced their choice. And while it was a split-decision, Hillary Clinton appears to be "on the ropes." One of her long-time allies today gave a show of support to Barack Obama and said Hillary should "call it quits." So is it over? 7's Political Editor Andy Hiller gives us his "Instinct."

After last night, either Hillary Clinton knows something nobody else does, or everybody knows something she doesn't:

"It's full speed on to the White House," Clinton said.

It is? Maybe Barack Obama didn't get the memo: he's already making plans for running against John McCain:

"We stand less than two hundred delegates away from securing the Democratic nomination for president of the United States," Obama said.

"I am so happy to be here in West Virginia..." Clinton said as she soldiered on today in one of the two states where the next primaries will be held:

"I hope you will give me a chance next Tuesday to be your president"

But she's surrounded by signs of weakness:

Sign one: George McGovern, the Democratic Presidential Candidate in 1972, switched his support from her to Obama, saying it's virtually impossible for Clinton to win.

Sign two: she's had to lend her campaign more than $6 million over the past month.

"So I hope you will go to hillaryclinton.com and support our campaign," Clinton said.

Now the democrats have another division to deal with: Hillary World versus the real world.

You don't want to be there when they collide.

Live newsroom, I'm Andy Hiller and that's my "Instinct."
