The Hiller Instinct: Caroline Kennedy nominated by Michael Moore
So while Caroline might be an attractive celebrity candidate, with a priceless political name, is she really qualified?
Constitutionally, the answer is yes: she's a natural born citizen, she's over 35, and she's been a resident of the United States for 14 years.
But, politically, the truth is she'd be bad for Obama: her inexperience would only draw more attention to his...and he doesn't need a Kennedy beside him to make some voters wonder whether he's too liberal.
But Moore argues Caroline is (quote) "...well known and beloved by people across the political spectrum."
If that's what counts, then how about Michael Phelps? Oh wait, he can't...he's only 23.
But wouldn't Paris Hilton, who's 27, be willing to run with a fake i.d.?
Look, "celebrity" is a real issue in this campaign...and right now--fairly or unfairly--it's hurting Obama.
McCain TV ad: "he's the biggest celebrity in the world, but is he ready to lead?"
Polls show John McCain's ads mocking him as nothing more than a celebrity are working...
So Michael Moore should cool it--because I'd bet he's going to vote for Obama no matter who's on the ticket with him.
I'm Andy Hiller, and that's my instinct.
