The Hiller Instinct: Palin Pregnancy
The Republicans can spin this forever, but they will never convince me the pregnancy of Sarah Palin's daughter is something they planned for during the campaign, or believe is a benefit.
An aide says McCain knew about the pregnancy when he selected Palin as his running mate, but that doesn't mean he knew it would become public knowledge so quickly.
Understandably--the Palin family is asking the media to respect its privacy. They will not get it.
In fact, the media will pursue the Palins to the North Pole. The story of a hockey mom running for Vice-President, and her pregnant, unmarried, 17-year-old daughter will not be ignored.
Tell the truth. Which are you more interested in: where the new baby will live, or John McCain's housing plan?
The first rule for a Vice-Presidential candidate is "do no harm" to the candidate for President.
Fairly or unfairly, Sarah Palin has already broken that rule.
I'm Andy Hiller and that's my instinct.
