New England's Best: Cheap Eats

There's no such thing a free lunch but you don't have to dine for a lot of dinero. You voted, we counted and then we hit the road to get the low down on New England's Best Cheap Eats!

You'll get a full plate at our third place spot, the Halfway Café. There's nothing stingy about the servings here. They offer a daily price buster entree that will leave your belly and your wallet stuffed.

Adam Toback, Halfway Café
"You can get steak tips on Monday, you can get stuffed shells with meatballs on Wednesday, $5.95 is definitely a bargain."

And if you're looking for a place to catch Monday night football you'd better bring your appetite.

Adam Toback
"Ten cent wings and half priced cheese pizza."

Good food without dishing out a lot of bread.

Our second place spot, Sullivan's in South Boston. You won't spend a lot of clams for seaside dining. Burgers, onion rings and ice cream are popular here but the house specialty...

Dan Sullivan, Sullivan's
"Two hot dogs, a drink and French fries for under $4… Can't go wrong."

It's no surprise they've been in business for 52 years. They've got great food that won't burn a whole in your wallet.

Dan Sullivan
"We don't mark our prices up too much. We want to have people keep coming back time and time again."

So where's Whitey?

Dan Sullivan
"Oh, years ago he was here quite a bit."

So, if you're Boston bred or new in town head over to Sullivan's where you won't have to fork over a lot of dough.

Dinner won't cost you a lot of beans in our first place spot -- Anna's Taqueria.

You don't have to head to the border for this great Mexican food. People line up for their famous overstuffed burritos and quesadillas. No secret ingredients, just the basics.

Felipe Herrera, Anna's Taqueria
"Good price and fresh."

Impress a date with great food and your smart money savvy.

Felipe Herrera
"Like a couple can come and they can eat for like ten bucks."

Once you bite into their burrito, you're hooked. Anna's has a loyal following.

Felipe Herrera
"We have customers who come in, two or three times a day. (laughs)"

So say Ole to this terrific taqueria.
