Alex Meyer started swimming competitively when he was just seven years old. He joined the varsity swim team at Ithaca High School in Ithaca, N.Y. when he was in seventh grade and won back-to-back state championships his junior and senior year. Meyer went on to Harvard University, where he was a two time All Ivy League swimmer majoring in human evolutionary biology. Meyer lives in Boston where he trains full time under Harvard men’s swimming head coach Tim Murphy.

In 2010, Alex won gold in the 25k at the Open Water World Championships. The next year he won gold in the 10k at the Open Water National Championships. He was the first swimmer to qualify for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. Meyer likes jazz and blues music and plays the guitar. He enjoys spending time outside, camping and boating with his family and friends.
