Punk Rock Aerobics
Are you tired of the same old fitness routine? Well why not funk it up with some punk. In this 7 on Assignment Kristy Kim takes a look at punk rock aerobics, a new fitness workout with attitude.
If this doesn't look like your typical work-out class, it's not. This is punk-rock aerobics. Maura Jasper, Punk Rock Aerobics
"It was just an idea that was floating there and instead of just talking about it, we acted on it."
This is the brainchild, Maura Jasper and Hilken Mancini, who is a certified aerobics instructor, punk rock aerobics. With high voltage music and unusual dance moves, punk-rock aerobics literally "rocks" you into shape.
Kristin Driscoll, Punk Rock Client
"I've done Jane Fonda in the past. I've always turned down the music and always blasted good loud rock music. So the second they said they were starting up punk rock aerobic it was just a brilliant idea."
Mancini and Jasper don't leave anything out of their one-hour workout sessions, which they hold twice a week at the Middle East in Cambridge. They begin with a cardio warm up gradually moving on to strength building exercises using some basic but unusual building blocks. The class is choreographed to include moves you've most likely seen at rock clubs, but doubtfully have ever seen before at health clubs.
Maura Jasper, Punk Rock Aerobics
"If you don't like to exercise, but you're someone who's moved your coffee table aside and started dancing in your living room, this is definitely the class for you."
Whether you rock-out in your living room or join a class like this one, punk rock aerobics will have you on your feet.
