Parent to Parent: Imbee.com

"They can upload their own pictures, they can put different characters on the cards, they can create different backgrounds."
It may look a lot like MySpace or Facebook, but this networking site is different. Imbee.com is just for kids.

"Imbee means absolutely nothing. We made up a whole bunch of fun sounding words, put them in front of a bunch of kids and said, which site do you want to go to, and they all wanted to go to Imbee."
The creator of Imbee, a mom, didn't want her kids' personal information going public on MySpace, so she decided to design her own kid-friendly safe site.

"I created a teeny tiny social network for my kids and the neighbor kids where they could put up pages, they could put up their thoughts, but it wasn't public on the internet."
On the site, parents always have the last word and get regular emails letting them know what their children are doing on the site.

"Every kid has an authorizing adult associated with their account. No kid can publish anything at all unless an adult has said 'I'm willing to watch over this kid.’"
The young members are only allowed to share information with people they know in real life, so it's a parent’s job to keep track of who their kids make friends with.
Imbee's creator says when parents play an active role in their kids "web life", it helps keeps everyone safe and happy.

"Let them explore in an environment that's safe, in an environment that you can watch so that you can learn and you can educate your kid at the same time."
