Parent to Parent: Rent-a-Toy

A new online company allows parents to rent toys and have them shipped directly to their front doors.

From crawling to walking, the kinds of toys children need change nearly as fast as they grow. When Lori's twin boys were born- she needed to get creative.

"I was very challenged in finding toys that my kids that would keep my kids entertained."

Eager to keep Ethan and Evan stimulated with age appropriate toys, she searched for a company that would fill her families needs.

"I thought well I wonder if there's a service that I could rent these toys from and just get fresh toys every month as my kid's needs grow."

She couldn't find that kind of service- so she started one herself. In October of last year, she launched Baby Plays, an online toy rental company. Christy- a mother of two- found out about Baby Plays through an ad. Still, at first she was skeptical.

"I thought- do I really want to rent toys that kids have put in their mouth."

Much to Christy's surprise, the toys arrived sanitized, shrink wrapped, and in pristine condition.

"We spend a great deal of time on each toy to make sure that every knob, and crevice, and every little area on the toy is completely sanitized."

All Moms and Dads have to do is pick out the toys he or she wants and add them in an online wish list.

Each month after Christy returns the toys she's rented- a box arrives filled with the new set. Her son is thrilled.
