Portsmouth Princess

Room For Improvement: Portsmouth Princess

Designer Linda Tobin of Tobin (re)Decorating walks in and says, "Hi LeeAnn, we're here! Are you ready?"

Linda is ready to make LeeAnn Riley's Daugher Maeve feel like a princess.

LeeAnn says, "Maeve is 4. She loves barbies, she loves princess everything, she loves all colors, she loves pink especially."

Her room now isn't fit for royalty.

LeeAnn explains: "not finished, not put together, I had nothing on the walls, very bland."

The goal: turn maeve's bedroom into one that's bright, imaginative & sticks to a central theme. The inspiration: frogs!

Linda Tobin of Tobin (re)Decorating says "they made me think of the story "The Princess and the Frog," and that's really where I got the whole theme and the color scheme for the room."

With Nancy Parkinson and Kate Bangs of Nashua's Periwinkle Painters on the job, purple gets swapped for key lime green.

"It's a lot darker, the purple. Tthis is very cheerful and bright, and I think it's going to look great for the accessories," Periwinkle Painters' Nancy Parkinson says.

"Very princess looking!" Linda exclaims.

Next comes furniture: a new headboard and bookshelf, plus a sofa from another room.

"She's going to love this!" Chikage says as she pulls out a new pink comforter.

Add fun bedding, pretty curtains, and a hot pink chandelier.

"It's whimsical, it's beautiful, and it really gives that princess look that I wanted for the room," Linda explains.

And it feels like a castle with faux-painted windows on the walls.

Some final touches: fairy hooks, fanciful wall art, and a big "M" that stands for "Maeve, maeve the princess."

So will she live happily ever after?

"Oh wow!" says LeeAnn when she and Maeve walk into the new and improved room.

Maeve's speechless when she sees the changes, but not for long.

"I love it!" Maeve exclaims.

The budget for Maeve's princess room was $650 dollars and our Design Team spent every penny to make sure her fairy tale came true.
