Designer Sharon McCormick is ready to liven up this humdrum hangout.
Bright colors are exactly what this space needs, so a bold blue makes a statement on the walls. And this modern artwork becomes the springboard for the room's accents.

"It has oranges and yellows and greens and turquoises. So we jumped off of that with our other colors and tied everything together."
Curtains are hung halfway up the main oversized window.

"It kind of creates a more personal feel and brings the scale of the room down to human scale a little bit. When you have a cathedral ceiling sometimes the volume of the space can get too much."
Any good work area needs a nice big desk.

"The most important thing was the custom made partners desk that we had done. It has space for both of them. We also had a built in printer roll-out so that they could both access the printer."
Proper storage pieces prevent pesky clutter, while his and her bookcases hold all those extras.
Then our designer plays off the couple's contemporary style with some new lighting.

"We knew we needed a lot of light in this room, brought in some of the colors that we have in the artwork and the lamps and accessories and tied it all together."
Chrome and glass accessories add sparkle and flair.
And comfortable seating makes this room a great place to unwind as well.

"Somebody can be lounging and still talking and facing someone who's working or just using the computer. An unused area was the alcove and we turned that into a cute little reading nook."
