Room For Improvement: Newton bedroom
Do you have dreams of re-doing a room, but a budget that won't stretch far? Today, we transform a boring bedroom into a restful, relaxing haven. 7's Chikage Windler shows how to get the biggest bang for your home improvement buck in this week's "Room for Improvement."
Jenn Conley says there's not really anything wrong with her Newton Bedroom, she's just tired of the same old thing. But now that 7's "Room for Improvement" Design Team's on the case, that's about to change.
"We're here!" says Somerton Park Interiors' Petra Hausberger.
Somerton Park Interiors' Petra Hausberger and Sunfish Paint & Design's Sean Fittz have big plans for the Conley's bedroom.
Homeowner Jenn Conley says, "We had a second child in June, so our time is precious. When we have time to relax, we want it to be a common space for us."
The goal, to use the Conley's $750 budget to turn this feminine, floral bedroom into one that's updated, calming, and relaxing.
First step, warming up the walls with soothing shades of beige. Then, the decorating begins. The biggest focus: the bed.
Petra Hausberger says, "This is where the investment went, into this coverlet."
The luxurious duvet cover and eye-catching toss pillows create a rich hotel or "spa-like" atmosphere.
"I love layering with all the different fabrics and the patterns and the textures. I really had fun with that," Petra explains.
Next, new fabric roll-up shades, a straw ottoman, and a new rug go into place.
Custom made wall art, new ceramic lamps, a dressing table mirror, and simple accessories complete the look. And in just four hours, it's a whole new room.
Jenn walks in and says, "Oh wow! This is gorgeous!"
Chikage Windler asks, "Is it what you expected, what you wanted?"
"It's definitely what I wanted. It's nice and peaceful. I can see us getting in bed and relaxing after a very long day," Jen replies.
New and improved, this room gets two thumbs up!
The Conley family's budget was $750 and our Design Team spent every penny to make sure they would get a good night's rest.
