Rebels and suicide bombers staged attacks all year long... killing hundreds of U.S. troops.

In July, dozens of commuters were killed in London in a terrorist attack.

Four al-Queda members detonated bombs on three subways and a bus.

It was the deadliest bombing on British soil since WWII.

Al-Qaeda also took responsibility for an attack in Jordan that left 60 people dead at three hotels.

The attacks were retaliation for Jordan's support of the United States.

In the Middle East, it appears the first steps are being taken towards a Palestinian state.

In June, Jewish settlers were forced out of their homes in the Gaza Strip...Paving the way for Palestinians to live on their own land.

The world is now faced with a different kind of enemy...- The Avian flu pandemic. If an outbreak occurs, it could kill millions of people.

Thus far, the bird flu has been contained to Asia.

On happier note, eight years after Princess Diana died, Prince Charles wed long time lover Camilla Parker Bowles.

The newlyweds kicked off their nuptials by travelling to the U.S. in November.

It was the first trip for Charles to the U.S. in 20 years.
