City Dog

Special Report: City Dog

It's called city dog Boston - a kind of a Zagat survey to the hydrant loving crowd.

Cricky Long/City Dog
"Anything anyone would ever need in the city, they've got to take care of their dog."

The book's author, Cricky Long, got the idea for the City Dog guidebook when she was stuck at work late.

Cricky Long/City Dog
"I couldn't find anyone to walk my dog that day. I'd call my neighbors, nobody was there."

So she created City Dog - and packed it full of dog friendly listings.

Cricky Long/City Dog
"Dog walkers, pet sitters, things that everybody would need to take care of their dog."

She included all the usuals - parks... Hotels... And vets. But also some things you might not expect.

Like "Paws for Reiki"... To deliver a healing touch.

CarolineNudelman/Reiki Specialist
"when they're in pain it helps to relax them so their immune system can kick in and help them heal."

Or like fetch limo - a taxi service for pets.

Terry Riccio/Fetch Limo
"I can transport pets to the vet, to the airport, to the kennel to the groomer."

All these errands are bound to make a pup hungry. So city dog also includes bakeries - like Fi-Dough on Charles street.

Ken Basiliere/Fi-Dough
"We have linza torts that are baked fresh once a week, we have donuts dipped in yogurt with nuts on them. They're all holistic, homemade, natural."

City Dog reviews each location - before adding them to the book.

Cricky Long/City Dog
"We try to give the inside scoop - the type of information that you wouldn't get unless you went and visited it personally."

So the next time you're wondering where you and Fido should go in Boston or in other cities around the country... You might want to go fetch the city dog guidebook instead.
