Leaf it to Pete, part two

Special Report: Leaf it to Pete, part two

Soon we'll be seeing white- - but before you cringe at the thought of shoveling - - enjoy what mother nature is treating all of us too...a spectacular show of colors

Fans of foliage
"I love this time of year"
"It’s the perfect weather to put on a sweater, and just relax"

Thanks to the relaxing...and mild days of September, the leaves are running about a week behind schedule.

This has caused a "log jam" of color across New England, where the foothills and coastline of northern New England peak within days of each other.

Before you head on the road make sure you have the leaf peeping essentials - - a map book, camera to capture the moments and an if you plan on getting out of your car...a pair of shoes you don't mind getting muddy...

It’s wet up in NH and Maine but that's where you'll find some of the best colors this weekend. I suggest staying close to the lakes

Immediate lakeside vistas may be muted, but plenty of color can be found around rt. 11 near Lake Winnepesaukee and rt. 25. South of Sebago Lake.

Another beautiful ride in Maine is rt. 302. It’s chock full of maples and birch, this perennial crowd-pleaser never disappoints. Its near peak late this weekend and early next week...

And if your kids aren't into fancying the foliage...there are plenty of pumpkin patches and apple orchards all along 302.
