Never Pay Full Price

Special Report: Never Pay Full Price

From clothes, to CDs, to cars -- you can save money by cracking the discount code.

We tracked 12,000 people and we asked them what they purchase every single month. Shoppers from around the country report the best days to get deals on clothes is Thursday and Friday.

Susan Merrill of STS market research said, "Two thirds of all merchandise that is sold on Thursdays and Fridays is sold on sale. So that's a significant amount."

But don't wait around when it comes to CDs and DVDs, get them the first week they come out.

Mike Dreese is the CEO of Newbury Comics and said, "If you're a consumer of home entertainment and you shop carefully you will never pay full price."

As for video games, you'll have to play out the price game.

If there's a game you're kind of interested in but are willing to wait six months, you might be able to get it for half as much.

At Mohr & McPherson in Cambridge, you can save big bucks on furniture by haggling down the price at some stores, especially warehouses -- or some big chains have clearance stores.

A former car dealer says you can save hundreds of dollars if you hit the dealership during some key times!

The end of the month is when dealers are pushing harder to meet quotas.

Summertime -- especially the week before Labor Day, when back to school shopping is taking away customers.

And around Christmas time, dealers are trying to get rid of the end of the year clearance.

Not every store follows the same rules, but by knowing when to shop you'll have a better chance of never having to pay full price.
