Special Report: Rules of the Road: Mass Pike

It's business as usual on the Mass Pike in the morning, but sometime after 4 p.m. depending on how traffic is moving, expect some convention changes.

Mariellen Burns, DNC Planning Group
"There will be an emergency vehicle lane that will be deployed in the Pike heading eastbound. That will just really be between Allston, Brighton and downtown. And that will be so we can get any emergency vehicles or buses or things like that that need to move in."

The three off-ramps at Exit 24, which give you access to 93 North, 93 South and access locally will close if and when they start to back-up.

That would mean that traffic would be re-routed to Exit 25, Congress Street, were you can get local access, 93 North access and 93 South via the bypass road also known as Haul Road.

The on-ramps in the South End/Back Bay area will be open. But one good way to get on the Pike Westbound is Kneeland Street.

No one will be allowed to park there, so traffic can move quicker.

There are no plans to close down the Mass Pike during the convention.
