Cosmetic Eye Lifts

Special Report: Cosmetic Eye Lifts

At 45 years old Laura Coco, wasn't ready for a face lift, but she was ready for an eye lift.

Laura Coco, Patient
"I felt like it was time, I was getting to a point where I was looking in the mirror, and I'm like, I look tired, even though I wasn't."

Tightening up sagging skin above and below the eyes is now one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries. Doctors say eye lifts are a way to make you look and feel younger without having an entire face lift.

Dr. Paul Lorenc, Plastic Surgeon
"I think the eyes are the window of the soul and it's true - when you meet someone, when you shake their hand, you look at their eyes."

As well as the eye lift, Laura's plastic surgeon performed laser resurfacing under her eyes to get rid of her wrinkles.

In just four days, Laura's doctor removed the stitches. Her eyes were still pink from the laser, but she was well on her way to a full recovery. However, there are some risks.

Dr. Paul Lorenc, Plastic Surgeon
"The risk of infection, even though it's very unusual, can happen. The risk of what we call a hematoma, which is bleeding underneath the skin, again it's very, very rare, but possible."

The entire procedure took an hour and a half in the doctor's office. Laura went home the same day but her full recovery process took about six weeks.
