Special Report: Date with Damon

If it sounds too good to be true to probably is.

Johnny Damon
"I knew I was going to hit that home run in Game 4."

But most of us aren’t lucky enough to be Johnny Damon.

The laid-back, long-haired center fielder has become a virtual rock-star since his team won the world championship.

Johnny Damon
"Sometimes it gets crazy, I mean going to my sons’ t-ball game, I can’t even watch. I have to jump over a fences and leave the game early because it’s a non-stop autograph session."

Later this month – it will be Damon who signs on the dotted line when he marries fiancée Michelle Mangan – the inspiration - he says - for his now world-famous locks.

Michelle Mangan, Damon’s Fiancée
"She liked dudes with long hair, so I was like, ‘if I want to be that dude, I better grow my hair long.’"

I think I just brought out the crazy side in him…you know, let him be able to be himself

So what is a typical day for Damon?

Johnny Damon
"We live on a lake. Baseball gave us the luxury to live on a lake. We go out and play, friends come out with us."

When they’re not on the water, Johnny and Michelle spend much of their time here at home. But rest assured there is never a dull moment.

Wendi Nix, 7News
"You have two children?"

Johnny Damon
"Yes."

Wendi Nix, 7News
"How are old are they now?"

Johnny Damon
"They’re five – and will be six by the next season rolls around."

Wendi Nix, 7News
"Twins?"

Johnny Damon
"Yes – they are cool kids."

As if the World Series win wasn’t enough, Johnny will soon tackle another project.

Johnny Damon
"We are moving to another lake, but we are going to miss it here. We get the sunset every day and Disney fireworks."

But on this day – fame and fireworks can wait. Sometimes it as simple as a man and his boat.
