Here are some tips to save some dough.

It may help to get all of your insurance policies from one company. By purchasing renters or homeowners insurance and auto coverage together you could receive a package discount of up to 15%.

Pay your premiums annually or semi-annually instead of monthly to avoid extra processing fees and save between 5% and 10% a year.

Don't forget about discounts. Some companies offer up to 10% off your car insurance if you take a defensive driving class.

And get rid of unnecessary auto coverage add-ons, like towing and rental car reimbursement. This can save you about $150 a year.
