That Makes Cents: Gas Saving Tips

Posted: 06/12/08

Always check your manual to find out what type of gas your car really needs and don't buy premium if you don't have to. It won't help your engine run any better than the regular and it will certainly clean your wallet out a lot faster.

By using regular instead of premium, that's about 20 cents a gallon difference. So over the course of a year, you would save around $130.

If your tires are worn, replace them. Doing that could save you more than $100 a year in fuel. And if you need new tires, ask for ones that have lower rolling resistance. They're designed for greater fuel efficiency and will save you even more money.

Now that makes cents.
