That Makes Cents: Maximizing your AC
When you turn on your air conditioner, set it at a higher temperature to start with. Setting it to the very lowest temperature will only overwork the air conditioner, waste energy and cost you money!
Experts say you can save a cool eight dollars a month for every degree warmer you set your AC. So, going from 68 degrees to 72 degrees will save you $32 dollars a month.
Keeping your air conditioner clean can also save you some cold hard cash. If the filter gets clogged with dust and pollen, your AC has to work harder to keep it cool, and that uses more energy.
Wiping down your air filter once a month can save you up to $100 this summer.
That way you can stay cool without burning a hole in your wallet and "That Makes Cents."
