That Makes Cents: Vanpooling
Lou Mejias of Ware would drive 80 miles a day from his home in western Massachusetts to Boston.
Lou Mejias, commuter
"I was spending somewhere around $400 a month just to get to work."
So Lou decided to no longer go it alone! He met up with fellow commuters online, and now they pool their resources. The group, of about a dozen, rent a van from one of the growing number of internet companies that cater to carpoolers.
Now Lou parks his car in Sturbridge, and hops into this 15-passenger van. They all split the rental cost and the gas, they even take turns driving!

"It saves me gas, it saves me tolls, it saves me parking, so it's a big benefit for me."
Lou says since he's been vanpooling he's saved over $200 dollars a month and "That Makes Cents."
