Frank Palmisano, boat owner
"Gas right now is close to $5 a gallon on the water."
To save on gas Frank Palmisano is trading in his 30-foot power boat, ‘Miss My Money’ for a smaller more fuel efficient one.
Frank Palmisano, boat owner
"I can save a lot more money on fuel by having a boat with a single engine instead of two."
But if you don't want to downsize, there are a few other ways you can boat without breaking the bank!
Larry Russo, Russo Marine
"Reducing the speed of your boat by 20-percent can save that amount...20-percent in fuel consumption."
Boating experts say it's also important to make sure the bottom of your boat is clean. Marine growth can create drag and reduce fuel efficiency. Also, map out where you're going and then drop anchor so you don't waste gas, and remember to tune your engine because a well-tuned engine uses less fuel.
That way you can enjoy the water without letting high gas prices sink your summer fun.
And "That Makes Cents."
