Staycations
The high cost to travel has many families staying close to home. Vacations have turned into "staycations!"
One way to have fun on the cheap? Go camping.
Ted Nussdorfer, Minuteman Campground
"We get people that are just two miles away that want to get away for the weekend."
Minuteman Campground, in Littleton is only 30 miles from Boston and sites start at just 36 dollars a night!
Or maybe you would like to rediscover Boston. Many hotels have special offers. The Omni Parker House Hotel offers a "Go Boston" package which includes admission to lots of popular attractions and starts at $180 a night.
Davie Ritchie, Omni Parker House Hotel
"The New England Aquarium, the historic trolley tour, the whale watch, the duck tour...All of these things are free."
For a more peaceful getaway try a stay at a local farm. Stevens farm in Barre is a bed and breakfast where you can feed the animals, go for hayrides or fish in their pond and rooms are only $85 a night.
Irene Stevens, Stevens Farm Bed & Breakfast
"It's just a great place for a family to come and spend a few days and really see what farm life is all about."
A few ways to make your summer staycation affordable and fun...And that makes sense.
