"I would say 75 percent or more drive at least some portion of their time of getting to work."

So to help employees save cash on gas the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston tried out a four day work week.

Anne Gill, Wentworth Institute of Technology's VP of Human Resources
"They decide which day they will take off and they work four longer days to make up the time."

Staff members say the flexible schedule allowed them to save major money and ease driving stress.

Paul Santoro, Wentworth Institute of Technology Senior Student Service Representative
"It's probably been saving me about a couple hundred dollars a month. I commute from Framingham, Massachusetts, so it's about a 35, 36 mile drive. It has been really great to be able to relax and not have to worry about sitting in traffic."

The school says the trial program, which lasted two and a half months, was a huge success and they're considering doing it again next year.

Anne Gill, Wentworth Institute of Technology's VP of Human Resources
"We're going to constantly evaluate ways that we can help staff get here."

Now that makes cents!
