That Makes Cents: Brown bag lunches

Buying a sub or salad five days a week costs an average of $35. If you make a sandwich at home, that could cost less than $3, which is a savings of about $80 a month. If you're reaching for the greens, pick a pre-packaged salad from the grocery store. That could help you keep about $90 a month in your pocket.

Now for the caffeine junkies. A medium coffee costs around $2. Brewing your own is only about 12 cents. That adds up to a savings of almost $40 a month.

And forget buying bottled water. Use the company water cooler. That can save you as much as $40 a month.

Now that makes cents.
