Dr. Richard Zane

Dr. Richard Zane is vice chair of the department of emergency medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine (Emergency Medicine) at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as medical director for emergency preparedness and bio-defense for Partners Healthcare. Dr. Zane has had extensive experience in designing systems of pre-hospital care and disaster response and has been an advisor to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on issues of hospital emergency preparedness and serves as the Society of Academic Emergency Medicines' representative to the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Preparedness and Emergency Operations. Dr. Zane has received funding from the Departments of Defense, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality for projects on mass casualty care and surge.
