Martha Stewart denies wrongdoing in Penney deal
NEW Y0RK (AP) -- Home diva Martha Stewart has testified in court that she did nothing wrong when she signed an agreement to open up shops within most of J.C. Penney's stores across the country.
Stewart testified today in New York State Supreme Court as part of a legal battle involving the Macy's and J.C. Penney retail chains.
Macy's is suing the media and merchandising company Stewart founded, claiming it breached an exclusive contract when she signed a deal with Penney in 2011 to open shops at most of its stores this spring.
Stewart testified for three hours, saying she was only looking to expand and offer new opportunities for shoppers. She says it's Macy's that didn't uphold its end of the agreement to try to maximize the potential of her business.
