UNDATED (WHDH) -- The Galaxy overtook Apple.
Samsung’s Galaxy III model became the world's best-selling smartphone for the very first time.
Samsung said it sold more than 30 million units since its launch in May.
About 18 million units of the Galaxy III were shipped in the third quarter of this year compared to about 16 million of Apple's iPhone 4s.
