Woman sees image of Jesus on her iron

METHUEN, Mass. -- A Methuen woman who recently faced some hard times said an image of Jesus Christ she saw on her iron reassured her that "life is going to be good."

When Mary Jo Coady, 44, first noticed the image on Sunday, she had to do a double-take.

“I picked it up, and at first, I said, ‘no it’s just my imagination.’ Either you see it or you don’t. You don’t have to see it... The top of a head, the hair, the two shadows of eyes, a nose, the mouth is a little faded,” said Coady of her interesting find.

The burn stains on the bottom of the iron resemble the face of a man with long hair.

It’s been a tough year for Coady, and her faith suffered a hit.

“I had separated from my husband within the past couple years, we had sold the house that we had lived in, you know, so that gets anybody a little down. Then my hours had been cut at work,” said Coady.

Coady regards the iron as a source of inspiration.

“I’m not saying God came down and talked to me or anything like that, it was just an uplifting sign,” said Coady.

This is not the first time someone has spotted what looks like an image of Jesus. Images have been reported on items from windows to Cheetos, and an image on a grilled cheese fetched thousands on Ebay.

Coady said she is not looking to sell the iron. She plans to keep the iron in a closet and buy a new one.

The lifelong Catholic said she has taken a lot of heat for her finding and claimed she is no fanatic with a pressing need to convince people of her discovery.

Although Coady admits to not being a perfect Catholic, she said that her faith has been strengthened by this discovery.
