Heartstrong (Gracie Soultanian, Jacqueline Stiles, Allison Cebollero) - Ayer-Shirley Regional Middle School
Heartstrong (Gracie Soultanian, Jacqueline Stiles, Allison Cebollero) from Ayer-Shirley Regional Middle School
I would like to nominate "HEARTSTRONG" (Gracie Soultanian, Allie Cebollero, and & Jackie Stiles) for Class Act. They are three 11 year old girls in the 6th grade, from Ayer-Shirley Regional Middle School. All three girls are straight A students and athletes, playing both school and recreation sports. They have started a youth venture in their community, in an effort to make a difference- and making a difference they are! The girls are raising funds to provide all the schools, athletic fields, town pool/town beach with AED's/Cardiac Defibrillators. They are teaching the knowledge how to use the AED's, and CPR to all coaches (school and recreation), school staff, students, and parents. Their goal is to raise awareness and have the community prepared, in case anyone goes into cardiac arrest. They want to ensure AED's are on site and readily available for use, in case tragedy strikes. They want to make the community heart safe and HEARTSTRONG!
One of the girls (Gracie) is in contact with The Ellsessar Family from Sutton MA. The Ellsessar's lost their son Michael two years ago while playing football and going into cardiac arrest, after a hit to the chest. No AED was on site and resuscitation efforts failed. The Ellsessar's today continue to raise awareness about cardiac arrest, for AED's to be on site, cpr, and emergency preparedness. They lobbied and made "Michaels Law" a law in MA, which says all athletic fields must have an AED on site. The girls got their idea for their venture from Michaels Story/tragedy. The parents offered to help the girls in anyway they could, to include speaking at any event they had. This would be a remarkable story which could include both the girls and the Ellsessars! PLEASE consider "HEARTSTRONG" for Class Act!
