I would like to nominate a group of Coyle and Cassidy High School seniors, led by Matt Houghton, who conceptualized and implemented a new scholarship program in memory of a dear friend who took his own life nearly one year ago. The students were so very thoughtful in their creation of the scholarship criteria so as to ensure that it best represented the essence of their friend. The first requirement for all those considered for the David Pluster Memorial Scholarship was that, "The student must have, at a priority, a generous spirit. The person must be always willing to help others in any way possible, without any thoughts of putting themselves first." The students organized, advertised and ran numerous in school fundraisers in addition to partnering with a local UNO’s restaurant. They, along with the Pluster family, will be awarding two scholarships in David’s memory at this year’s Honors Night. This group of young people illustrates how something good can come from some
thing tragic. They are well deserving of being called a “Class Act”!
